Our commitment
Focus Radiology is committed to protecting the privacy of every patient. This policy explains how we handle personal and health information in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This is a placeholder version — please replace with a policy reviewed by your legal advisor before launch.
Information we collect
We collect personal information you provide directly (name, contact details, date of birth, Medicare details) and health information arising from imaging and reports. We also receive information from your referring doctor, other treating clinicians and previous imaging providers.
How we use information
We use your information to provide imaging services, prepare diagnostic reports, communicate with your referrer, manage billing including Medicare and DVA claims, and improve our services. We do not use personal information for marketing without consent.
When we disclose information
We disclose information to your referring practitioner, treating doctors involved in your care, Medicare and DVA for billing, and government bodies as required by law. We never sell or trade your information.
How we protect information
We store electronic records in secure systems with access controls and audit logs. Paper records are kept in locked premises. Staff training and confidentiality agreements support our technical safeguards.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to your records or correction of inaccurate information by contacting our Privacy Officer at [email protected]. We respond within 30 days; some requests may require proof of identity.
Overseas disclosure
We don't routinely send personal information overseas. Some IT services are provided by vendors who store de-identified backups in Australian data centres.
