About this service
Euflexxa is a hyaluronic acid injection used to relieve pain and improve function in knees affected by osteoarthritis. Delivered under ultrasound guidance, the medication supplements the natural synovial fluid in the joint to act as a lubricant and shock absorber.
What to expect
The radiologist confirms the joint with ultrasound, cleans the skin and gives local anaesthetic. The Euflexxa injection is delivered into the joint space under live imaging. Each session takes about 20 minutes. The standard course is three injections, one week apart.
Tell us if you take blood thinners or have any allergies. Wear comfortable clothing that exposes the knee easily. You may walk out of the appointment but should avoid strenuous activity for 48 hours after each injection.
Results and reports
A sub-specialised radiologist will read your scan and send a comprehensive report directly to your referring GP or specialist the next business day. Your referrer will discuss the results with you at your follow-up appointment.
Bulk billing
Most euflexxa injections examinations are bulk-billed for eligible patients. Our team will confirm any out-of-pocket costs when you book.
