About this service
An X-ray, or radiograph, is a medical imaging technique that uses radiation in the form of X-rays to produce a two-dimensional, medically-diagnostic image. Our high-performance X-ray machines excel at assessing fractures, cardiac contours, spine, lungs and soft tissue.
What to expect
A radiographer will call you from the waiting room and explain the procedure, including positioning and breathing instructions. Stay still during imaging — movement blurs the result and may require a retake. Examinations usually take 5–15 minutes depending on the body part.
No specific preparation is needed. Bring your referral letter — we cannot take an X-ray without it. You may be given a gown, since zips, jewellery and watches show on images. Tell us if there is any chance you may be pregnant.
Results and reports
A sub-specialised radiologist will read your scan and send a comprehensive report directly to your referring GP or specialist the next business day. Your referrer will discuss the results with you at your follow-up appointment.
Bulk billing
Most general x-ray examinations are bulk-billed for eligible patients. Our team will confirm any out-of-pocket costs when you book.
